Hello, I am Sheri Ann Petersen.  As a Certified Functional Nutrition Practitioner, and Registered Nurse, I help people determine if what they are eating is healthful or hurtful to their body’s unique needs.  Those who find me often have chronic illness and ongoing issues they haven’t been able to resolve.  They care about their quality of life, they don’t take it for granted, and they want to know where and how to place their efforts.

For almost a decade, I was an Employee Health Nurse at a large local hospital.  It was both disheartening and disturbing to witness the poor health of many of the caregivers.  Most of them are overwhelmed; overweight, and many seem disinterested in their own vibrancy.  While observing this irony, I slowly came to realize that I was stuck in the very same trap.  My stress was soothed with chocolate; my comfort came from many unhealthy foods, and I was uneducated about the healing powers of food.  We all were!

That’s when I discovered the field of Functional Nutrition and became certified through Andrea Nakayama’s Holistic Nutrition Lab.  Functional Nutrition has connected me to health professionals all over the world who refused to only prescribe medication for illness.  We focused on the root cause of an illness and gave the body nutrition to properly heal.  This new paradigm is desperately needed in healthcare because it is healing people.

As an allied functional nutrition practitioner, my primary goal is to create safety and trust.  I don’t winch or judge if someone is angry, nervous, distraught, or questioning about what’s happening with their health.  I ask them open questions that reveal the truth of what they need.  They get to be heard, deeply respected, and guided to a place of knowledge and empowerment.  To me, this is the ultimate gift we can give humanity.

Today, I am seeking to collaborate or join virtually, as I desire to work from home, a supportive team of healthcare revolutionaries.  When we know better, we do better, and my expertise is growing as a Board Certified Integrative Nurse Coach, MSN, and now as an emerging leader in Functional Nutrition.  As a former labor and delivery nurse for many years, I’ve worked with hundreds of women who were willing to face their discomfort in order to bring new life to the world.  This primed me to work with others who have the same priorities in mind.

My own healing occurred through functional nutrition.  What Endocrinologists diagnosed as a low functioning thyroid turned out to be an autoimmune disease that can be treated not only with medication, but also with specific foods and lifestyle changes.  Conventional medicine replaced the missing hormone, but nothing to heal, nourish, or stabilize the thyroid gland.  Functional nutrition told me how the imbalance occurred and how I can manage it moving ahead.  I imagine most of us would choose this kind of understanding, if we knew it was available.

If you are a client who is ready to take control of how you feel, let’s connect and get focused on you.  If you are a Physician or Healthcare Practitioner working in any area specialty, please allow me to offer you my strengths as an Allied Functional Nutrition Practitioner and Board Certified Integrative Nurse Coach.  Collective change requires our collective efforts and voices, and I’m eager to find you out there!
